Made in L.A.

Pavonine is a women’s lifestyle brand that is the perfect mix of playful and polished. With bold designs and effortless fits, Pavonine has you covered from dinner party to after-party and everything in between. Pavonine was founded in 2009 by LA native Jessica Solomon, who keeps all operations and production in Los Angeles. Producing in Los Angeles also allows Solomon and her team to keep quality control a top priority. Solomon says, “It is important for me to give back to the city that has given me such wonderful opportunities and unique inspiration.”

The 2012 collection includes Solomon’s foray into pattern making. “There’s something beautiful about sketching a design,” she says, “but actually cutting the pattern and working though the design, your relationship to the pieces change. They become alive.”

And with each passing season Pavonine grows, while holding on to its timeless but modern feel and blend of soft and edgy. It’s a brand for women of all sentiments.

Born in L.A.

The downtown office space of Pavonine designer and founder Jessica Solomon is ripe with movement. The clothes, the patterns, and the bustle of the designer herself fill the space with enigmatic energy. It’s an energy that matches the city of her birth—a city from which she still draws endless inspiration for her brand.

From cracked desert soil, to a broken guitar string or the uneven pavement beneath her 4-inch heels, Solomon has an impressive ability to find beauty in the least likely of places, and is an ever-changing composite of her diverse professional background and the environment around her.

After earning her first degree in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz, she went on to FIDM where she graduated with a degree in Apparel Manufacturing. She was accepted into the advanced program that took her on a world tour of the industry’s most notorious fabric mills, couture decorating houses, and multi-national manufacturers. She has held positions at Rock and Republic, Thomas Wylde, and Modern Amusement.

She founded Pavonine in 2009, and today can be found pouring over her patterns and fabrics, taking a break on the fire escape of her office, soaking in the sights, sounds and sunsets of the city that gave genesis to Pavonine. You might even spot her owning the mic at a roadside karaoke bar. You never know with Jess. And that’s the beauty of her style.
